Today Apple announced the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, Apple Watch, iPad and Apple TV+. There’s a lot to look at, so here’s an overview.
Powered by the A13 Bionic chip, the fastest chip ever in a smartphone, the new iPhone 11 features a new dual-camera system, with 12MP Ultra-Wide and 12MP Wide cameras. It can also shoot in 4K video, the highest quality video in a smartphone.
With an aluminium and glass design, it’s the toughest glass in a smartphone. And it’s water-resistant up to 2 metres for 30 minutes.
The 6.1” Liquid Retina LCD display features True Tone, which adjusts the balance to match the light around you. And like the iPhone XR and XS, the iPhone 11 has Face ID.
The iPhone 11 will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, and in Purple, Yellow, Green, Black, White and (PRODUCT)Red.
It’s the iPhone 11 but really stepped up a notch!
The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Pro Max has a new triple camera system with three 12MP Ultra-Wide, Wide and Telephoto cameras and can record 4K video. It’s the best camera system ever on an iPhone.
Other features include the stainless steel and glass design, A13 Bionic chip and Super Retina XDR OLED display (5.8” for the Pro and 6.5” for the Pro Max).
It’s water-resistant up to 4 metres for 30 minutes and like the iPhone 11 and even the XR and XS, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max has Face ID. Both the iPhone 11 Pro and the Pro Max will be available with 64GB, 256GB and 512GB, and in Gold, Space Grey, Silver and Midnight Green.
The new Apple Watch Series 5 features an Always-On Retina display that never sleeps, so it’s easy to see the time and other important information, without raising or tapping the display.
The new built-in compass and updated Maps app provide great navigation tools and allow users to see which way they are facing. Using the Compass app you’ll see heading, incline, latitude, longitude and current elevation.
Additional health and fitness features come with watchOS 6, including the new Cycle Tracking app, and for your heart rate, you can get notifications when it appears to be too high or too low.
Like the previous Apple Watch, the Series 5 will be available with GPS or GPS + cellular, but the case sizes are different, with the Series 5 available in 40mm and 44mm.
The new, seventh-generation, iPad combines the power and capability of a computer with the versatility and ease of use you’d never expect from one.
With a larger 10.2” Retina display, the new iPad has support for the full-sized Smart Keyboard (available separately) and the new capabilities of iPadOS for powerful multitasking.
Managing documents in the Files app with iPadOS gets even more powerful with support for external USB drives. While accessibility features enable you to use Voice Control to control your iPad.
And thanks to the efficiency of the A10 Fusion chip, you can expect up to 10 hours of battery life to keep you going through the day.
Today Apple also announced Apple TV+, a new streaming video on demand service. It’ll be available from 1 November and features original shows and movies.
