Have a smart watch but don’t use it to its full potential? You’re not alone! We’ve outlined some tips to help you get the most out of your smart watch.
While there are a range of smart watches on the market, many people fall into Team Apple or Team Samsung. The tips below will hopefully help you supercharge your smart watch experience.
Talk to your smart watch. Use the voice assistant, just like on your phone or smart speaker. Hey Siri! Hi Bixby! Hey Google! Ask it questions or give it commands, like what the weather forecast is, what’s in your calendar for tomorrow, add milk to your shopping list, set a cooking timer, and so on. The cooking timer is particularly handy!
Take a look through the standard fitness and health trackers that come already installed on your smart watch. If they don’t cover what you need browse the app store and find the right app to suit your needs.
Talk about making daily life simple! With Apple Pay and Samsung Pay you can use your smart watch to tap and pay. Very helpful with the current need for contactless transactions in store. And you can take it to the next level by adding your store loyalty cards too.
Taking a swim or hoping in the shower? Activate the water lock mode. Most Apple Watches and Samsung Galaxy Watches have it. It will prevent the water inadvertently activating something on the watch face.
Kitted out in Apple gear? From your Apple Watch you can unlock your Mac from your Apple Watch and control your Apple TV.
Both Apple and Samsung have apps that run your through a breathing exercise. Sometimes this is overlooked, yet this function plays an important role – it can help reduce your heart rate, and help you relax and manage stress.
Keep calm and breathe on!
It pays to be prepared, and to know that you can use your smart watch in an emergency. From your Apple Watch you can call for help and alert an emergency contact. If you don’t have an Apple Watch with cellular, you will need to have your iPhone nearby or be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Samsung Watches have a similar feature that enables you to send an SOS message with your location and how to track you for up to 1 hour.
If you have an Apple Watch Series 4 or later, you can also use the fall detection feature, which detects a hard fall and can help connect you with the emergency services if needed.
